Last Monday evening, things got serious on our company premises in Willich – at least in a simulation. We made our site available to the Willich volunteer fire brigade for a group exercise.
The scenario: a pallet stack on fire at the rear of the facility.
The particular challenge?
No direct access to the object!
As the entrance gate remained locked, the emergency services had to act creatively and quickly:
Overcoming obstacles: The attack team climbed over the gate using a ladder while wearing breathing apparatus.
Water supply: The hoses were laid under the gate to start fighting the fire.
Full operational force: A total of 30 people (divided into 3 groups) trained on site. Also present: three fire engines with different capabilities.
Why do we do this? Safety is not a coincidence, but the result of training. We are delighted that by providing our infrastructure, we can help ensure that rescuers are perfectly prepared in an emergency.
A huge thank you to the men and women of the volunteer fire brigade who sacrifice their free time for the safety of us all.
An indispensable service to the community, which we as a company are delighted to support! 👏
